Abstract
Dyspepsia is a common digestive system disorder. It is characterized by pain or discomfort in the pit of the stomach, bloating, nausea, early satiety, and a burning sensation in the chest. This condition can be caused by various factors, such as irregular eating habits, stress, Helicobacter pylori infection, the use of certain medications, and an unhealthy lifestyle. This study aims to identify factors associated with dyspepsia in respondents, thereby providing an overview of the underlying causes and providing a basis for more effective prevention and treatment. This study employed a descriptive design with a retrospective approach. The study utilized medical records of patients diagnosed with dyspepsia at healthcare facilities during a specific period. The sample was drawn using a total sampling technique in accordance with established inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data collected included patient characteristics such as age, gender, occupation, and other factors related to the incidence of dyspepsia. Based on data processing, the number of inpatients diagnosed with dyspepsia during the January–March 2024 period was 283. The majority of patients were female, 208 (73.50%), while 75 (26.50%) were male. Therefore, female patients dominated inpatient dyspepsia cases during this study period.
